Removal
Vehicles without Auto-Start-Stop System

Remove the air cleaner.

Remove the battery.
Refer to: Battery (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).
Vehicles with 2.7L EcoBoost engine

Remove the battery tray nut.
Torque:
18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

Remove the battery tray bolt.
Torque:
18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

Remove the battery tray bolt.
Torque:
53 lb.in (6 Nm)

Detach the battery cable retainer from the battery tray and remove the battery tray.
Vehicles without 2.7L EcoBoost engine

Detach the battery cable retainers from the
battery tray and position the battery cable aside. Remove the 6 mm X 30
mm bolts.
Torque:
53 lb.in (6 Nm)

Remove the 6 mm X 18 mm bolts and the battery tray.
Torque:
53 lb.in (6 Nm)
Installation
-
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Removal
NOTICE:
Do not remove or install the M8 nut (20 Nm) on the cable
eyelet bolt while the battery monitoring sensor is attached to the
battery post as this causes damage to the sensor, connector, and
possibly the battery post and case...
Removal
Disconnect the battery ground.
