Ford Fusion: Power Transfer Unit - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission – 6F35 / Power Transfer Unit. Removal

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

If equipped.
Remove the underbody shield.

Remove the rear driveshaft.
Refer to: Rear Driveshaft (205-01 Driveshaft, Removal and Installation).

Loosen the clamp, remove the nuts and the CAC inlet tube.

Loosen the clamp and disconnect the CAC outlet tube.

Remove the catalytic converter.
Refer to: Catalytic Converter (309-00B Exhaust System - 2.0L EcoBoost (184kW/250PS) – MI4, Removal and Installation).

Remove the PTU heat shield bolts and the heat shield.

Remove the front halfshaft RH.
Refer to: Front Halfshaft RH (205-04 Front Drive Halfshafts, Removal and Installation).

Disconnect the PTU vent hose and position it aside.

Remove the PTU drain plug.

Remove the PTU support bracket and bolts.
-
Remove and discard the upper PTU bolts.
-
Remove and discard the lower PTU bolts.

Remove the PTU.
Removal
With the vehicle in NUETRAL, position it on a hoist.
Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation)...
Install the PTU.
Install the new top PTU bolts.
Torque:
59 lb.ft (80 Nm)
Install the new bottom PTU bolts...

Open the floor console stowage bin lid.
On both sides.
Detach the clips and remove the floor console upper side finish panel...
Driveshaft runout
1.0 mm (0.040 in)
Driveshaft to PTU joint angle @ curb ride height
5.259 degrees
Driveshaft center bearing "1" joint angle @ curb ride height (Center bearing closest to the PTU)
