Ford Fusion: Accessory Drive - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS) – I4 / Accessory Drive Belt. Removal and Installation

Removal
NOTICE:
Under no circumstances should the accessory drive belt,
tensioner or pulleys be lubricated as potential damage to the belt
material and tensioner damping mechanism will occur. Do not apply any
fluids or belt dressing to the accessory drive belt or pulleys.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

Remove the engine appearance cover.

If equipped, remove the bolt and the shield from the generator.

On early build vehicle with a tensioner, remove the engine mount.
Refer to: Engine Mount (303-01A Engine - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS) – I4, Removal and Installation).

On early build vehicles with a tensioner, rotate the
accessory drive belt tensioner counter clockwise and position aside the
accessory drive belt.

On early build vehicles with a tensioner, remove the
bolts, accessory drive belt tensioner and accessory drive belt.
-
On late build vehicles without a tensioner, cut the accessory drive belt and remove.
Use the General Equipment: Knife
Installation
-
On early build vehicles with a tensioner, install the
bolts, accessory drive belt tensioner and accessory drive belt.
Torque:
35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

On early build vehicles with a tensioner, after
installation, make sure the accessory drive belt is correctly seated on
all pulleys.

On late build vehicles without a tensioner, remove the bolt.
-
On late build vehicles without a tensioner, position the
accessory drive belt kit tools and the belt to be installed.
Torque:
89 lb.in (10 Nm)

On late build vehicles without a tensioner, while using
the accessory drive belt kit tools, rotate the crankshaft pulley
clockwise and install the belt.

NOTE:
After installation, remove the guide wire tool and
nut. Make sure the stud bolt is still tightened to specification.
NOTE:
After installation, verify the accessory drive belt is correctly seated on all of the pulleys.
On late build vehicles without a tensioner, remove the
guide wire tool and nut. Verify the accessory drive belt is correctly
seated on all of the pulleys.

If equipped, install the bolt and the shield on the generator.
Torque:
62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Install the engine appearance cover.

Power Transfer Unit (PTU)
Rear driveshaft
AWD control module
Rear axle with coupling device
The
Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is a gearbox that attaches to the
transmission. The PTU directs power to the rear driveshaft through a
helical gear spline coupled to the transmission differential case and
hypoid/helical ring gear assembl..
Note: The system is not compatible with
non-Ford aftermarket remote start systems.
Use of these systems may result in engine
starting problems and a loss of security
protection.
Note: Metallic objects, electronic devices
or a second coded key on the same key
chain may result in vehicle starting
problems, especially if they are too close to
the key when starting your vehicle. Prevent
