Ford Fusion: Rear View Mirrors / Exterior Mirror. Removal and Installation
Removal
NOTE:
LH side shown, RH side similar.
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

WARNING:
Before beginning any service procedure in this
section, refer to Safety Warnings in section 100-00 General Information.
Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal

To remove the mirror assembly carry out steps 3 through 10.
-
To remove the mirror glass carry out steps 11 through 13.
-
To remove the mirror motor carry out steps 14 through 17.
-
To remove the mirror mounted turn signal lamp carry out steps 18 through 23.
-
To remove the puddle lamp carry out step 24.
Exterior rear view mirror assembly
-
Remove the front door interior trim panel.
Refer to: Front Door Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Position aside the door control module.
-
Remove the bolts.
Torque:
44 lb.in (5 Nm)
-
Position aside the door control module.
-
Remove the watershields.
-
Remove the watershield.
-
Remove the front door speaker.
-
Disconnect the electrical connector and position aside the wiring harness.
-
Remove the bolts and the front door speaker.
Torque:
22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

Remove the bolt.
-
NOTE:
Position the division bar off the window regulator track.
NOTE:
Access the exterior rear view mirror connector through the front door speaker opening.
Disconnect the electrical connector and position aside the wiring harness.

Remove the nuts and the exterior mirror assembly.
Torque:
80 lb.in (9 Nm)
Exterior rear view mirror glass

NOTE:
Vehicles not equipped with side obstacle detection.
Remove the exterior mirror glass.
-
Position the exterior mirror glass to the full
upward and inward position, using a screwdriver to release the tabs
starting at the lower outboard side of mirror and continuing around the
mirror until all the tabs are released.
-
Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the exterior mirror glass.

NOTE:
Vehicles equipped with side obstacle detection.
Remove the exterior mirror glass.
-
Position the exterior mirror glass to the full
upward and inward position, using a screwdriver to release the tabs
starting at the lower outboard side of mirror and continuing around the
mirror until all the tabs are released.
-
Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the exterior mirror glass.

NOTE:
Driver side only
Inspect the mirror glass stabilization springs, replace the mirror glass if damaged.
Exterior rear view mirror motor
-
NOTE:
Vehicles without side obstacle detection.
Remove the exterior mirror glass.
-
Position the exterior mirror glass to the full
upward and inward position, using a screwdriver to release the tabs
starting at the lower outboard side of mirror and continuing around the
mirror until all the tabs are released.
-
Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the exterior mirror glass.
-
NOTE:
Vehicles with side obstacle detection.
Remove the exterior mirror glass.
-
Position the exterior mirror glass to the full
upward and inward position, using a screwdriver to release the tabs
starting at the lower outboard side of mirror and continuing around the
mirror until all the tabs are released.

Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the exterior mirror glass.

NOTE:
Driver side only
Inspect the mirror glass stabilization springs, replace the mirror glass if damaged.
-
Remove the exterior mirror motor.
-
Remove the exterior mirror motor screw.
-
Disconnect the exterior mirror motor electrical connector.
-
Release the tabs and remove the exterior mirror motor.
Exterior rear view mirror mounted turn signal lamp
-
NOTE:
Vehicles without side obstacle detection.
Remove the exterior mirror glass.
-
Position the exterior mirror glass to the full
upward and inward position, using a screwdriver to release the tabs
starting at the lower outboard side of mirror and continuing around the
mirror until all the tabs are released.
-
Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the exterior mirror glass.
-
NOTE:
Vehicles with side obstacle detection.
Remove the exterior mirror glass.
-
Position the exterior mirror glass to the full
upward and inward position, using a screwdriver to release the tabs
starting at the lower outboard side of mirror and continuing around the
mirror until all the tabs are released.
-
Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the exterior mirror glass.

NOTE:
Driver side only
Inspect the mirror glass stabilization springs, replace the mirror glass if damaged.

Remove the mirror cover.
-
Release the tabs.
-
Remove the mirror cover.
-
Remove the screw.
-
NOTE:
This step is only necessary when installing a new turn signal indicator.
-
Disconnect the electrical connector and position aside the wiring harness.
-
Remove the screw.
-
Release the tab.
-
Remove the turn signal.
Puddle lamp
-
NOTE:
Carry out this step only if a new puddle lamp is being installed.
Remove the puddle lamp.
-
Using a screwdriver, release the tab and position the puddle lamp down.
-
Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the puddle lamp
Installation
-
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
