Roof Opening Panel
The roof opening panel consists of the following:
The roof opening panel is an electronically operated glass panel that can be opened, closed or tilted (vent position) by the roof opening panel control switch. Actuating the switch supplies a ground signal to the roof opening panel motor/module. The roof opening panel uses an integrated motor and module that is serviced as an assembly. The roof opening panel has one-touch open and one-touch close features that are activated when the switch is touched on the open, close or vent symbols.
The
roof opening panel motor must be initialized when repairs are carried
out on any part of the roof opening panel system or when the roof
opening panel motor, glass, assembly, or air deflector has been removed
or replaced for any reason.
For additional information, refer to: Power Roof Opening Panel Initialization (501-17 Roof Opening Panel, General Procedures).
Switch and Controls
The roof opening panel control switch is integrated into the overhead console along with other controls and interior lights. The roof opening panel control switch is serviced as an assembly with the overhead console. The roof opening panel control switch is a touch-sensitive switch that has no motion or sound to indicate the switch has been activated. If the switch is touched between buttons it will not accept a command. When this happens, move your finger several inches away from the switch to allow the sensor system to reset and accept a new touch command.
When the roof opening panel glass is in the fully closed position, touching the roof opening panel control switch open symbol will activate the one-touch open feature. When in one-touch open mode (except vent), touching any roof opening panel control switch symbol will cancel the one-touch operation and place the glass at that specific position.
With the roof opening panel glass in any open position, touching the roof opening panel control switch close symbol will activate the one-touch close feature. When in one-touch close mode (except vent), touching any roof opening panel control switch symbol will cancel the one-touch operation and place the glass at that specific position. In vent one-touch open or close mode the one-touch operation will not manually cancel. Near the end of the forward travel, the rear portion of the roof opening panel glass moves upward on 2 lifter arms. This allows a weather-tight seal when the roof opening panel glass is closed.
If an obstacle contacts the leading edge of the roof opening panel glass during one-touch close operation, the roof opening panel glass will reverse direction and open to approximately the mid position and stop. The operator cannot stop this open motion once it has begun.
If an obstacle contacts the rear edge of the roof opening panel glass during one-touch vent close operation, the roof opening panel glass will reverse direction to the vent open position.
When the roof opening panel glass is in the closed position, touching the roof opening panel control switch vent symbol will activate the one-touch vent open feature. When the roof opening panel glass is in the vent position, touching the roof opening panel control switch close symbol will activate the one-touch vent close feature.
Global Open/Close
NOTE: The global open/close feature may be enabled/disabled by the customer following a procedure listed in the Owner's Literature. For a complete list of available programmable parameters, refer to Module Configuration in Section 418-01.
The global open/close feature only activates when the ignition is off and the delayed accessory relay is not active. It can be activated by pressing and holding the unlock button of the RKE for 2 seconds. The BCM then sends a signal on the global open circuit to open both front door windows and the roof opening panel (if equipped) moves to the VENT position. Pressing and holding the lock button on the RKE transmitter begins closing the windows and roof opening panel (if equipped).
